When we dance, it mostly happens as part of a social event, as an expression of joy. Some take the dancing further and make it their livelihood and their paramount passion – In The Dancing Human, we encounter three experienced artists who, each in his/her own way, has made dancing a vital part of his/her life. As performers or creators they live for and explore the possibilities of dance as a means of human and artistic expression.
What these 3 performers will tell on stage is sometimes their own stories and sometimes the stories of 25 other dancers, from all over the world and all above the age of 35, who have been interviewed about dance, their relationship with dance and their life choices.
In this documentary piece, freely based on Jørgen Leth’s movie Det Perfekte Menneske (The Perfect Human, 1968), Bjerregaard invites the audience to take an up-close and personal look at what it means to (choose to) live as a dancer.

Built around Bach's 5th Cello suite, this solo work draws its inspiration from a desire to create a constant river of movement reflecting the energy of the music - a mirror from where we can portray one man’s journey. Together with elements from Action painting and visual arts the dance tries to catch, sort, arrange movements, to place them in order – creating a body of memories.
The Solo has been performed in several versions (For stage as well as site specific) in Hungary, Japan, China and Bosnia-Herzegovina.
The solo is part of a larger project where I since 2014 have been creating work around the 6 cello suites of Bach. Juxta is the forth work in the series and the only solo, the previous three works where created on dancers in Hungary, Cuba and students from the Guangxi Arts Institute.
